Final Reflection

The reason that Ethan and I were inspired to persur this project was because we wanted to give back to the athletic department at Hawken. Athletics have been a huge part of our life at Hawken and as graduating seniors we wanted to find a way to give back while still helping the future generation to succeed. As we began this project our objective was to build a physical refuel station, but as we started our project it became clear that we would not have the time and materials to do so. So our focuses for the three weeks really went into learning about nutrition, interviewing hogs hills and universities, and laying out the logistics of the station so that someone can one day build it. Put mentors did a great job of making sure we know what we need to helped us get in contact with the right people, and made sure that we were asking the right questions. Ethan and I were very excited and enthusiastic to learn about this topic and begin the process of making a field station for Hawken. I think the thing that was lacking about our project was that we could have began the test sting phase during our project, I think if we got a little further faster we would have been able to do more. During this project we not only learned about nutrition, but we learned how to set up interviews, how to conduct interviews, how to set up connections between people and companies, and begin creating something from scratch. Although a refuel station is small, this acts as our own little startup I feel like. I felt like we were starting our own thing and working to put it together. I think I’m order to continue this project, Hawken needs to continue to support coach lew and Devin on this journey and anyone who decides to help them. If I had device to any rising seniors about projects, it would be to pick the projects early and pick something your are interested in. In the end Ethan and I give huge shoutouts to coach lew and Devin who helped us every step of the way and taught us a lot!
